The Binghamton City School District is seeking candidates to fill the following positions for the 2022-23 school year:  School Nurse Teacher, RN, and LPN

School Nurse Teacher

 Salary ranges from $48,388 to $65,697 annually depending on experience
Contractual hours/days: 6 hrs per day / 200 days per year)

The role of the School Nurse-Teacher, in the total school health program, is a dual role which is unique in and of itself. It requires skills and knowledge in two professions, namely bures and teacher.

The School Nurse-Teacher devotes a major portion of their time to teaching, interpreting, guiding, advising and counseling, and providing health services. They serve as a faculty member with the same obligations as other teachers for participation in activities of the teaching profession. Their function plays a major role in planning a more comprehensive health service program. The School Nurse-Teacher works with the Superintendent, building principal, the head of school nurse-teacher, the Director of Special Services, the school physician, and the classroom teacher to plan, implement and evaluate, the health education curriculum. In carrying out this health program, the school’s responsibility in meeting the health needs of the pupil is fulfilled.

Registered Nurse - Job Description

RN's salary range from $33,872 - $45,988 annually depending on experience
Contractual hours/days: 6 hrs per day / 200 days per year)

Distinguishing Features of the Class: This is a professional nursing position in a public or private school. It involves responsibility for coordinating individual patient care and for performing nursing requiring substantial specialized judgment and skills. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Health Services and in accordance with a prescribed nursing care plan. Supervision may also be exercised over the work of licensed Practical Nurses and related Auxiliary nursing personnel. Does related work as required.

Licensed Practical Nurse- Job Description

LPN's salary starts at $30,000 - non represented
Contractual hours/days: 6 hrs per day / 200 days per year)

Distinguishing Features of the Class: The incumbent performs routine nursing services in the schools. Under general discretion, an employee in this class is responsible for giving care to students within the limits allowed by the license and the New York State Education Department. Work may involve the maintenance of acceptable health standards, school and employee health problems. Does related work as required.

Candidates must be prepared to provide additional documents to complete a candidate folder.
