The Binghamton City School District is seeking candidates to fill an anticipated CSE Chairperson position for the 2026–2027 school year. These are full-time, probationary tenure-track positions.

The CSE Chairperson reports to the Directors of Special Services.

Major duties and responsibilities listed may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for chairing K-12 CSE meetings as well as serving as the coordinator between the District, all school buildings, parents, and outside agencies.
- Implements and maintains procedures for the K-12 CSE process and office procedures to ensure efficient day-to-day special education department operations.
- The CSE Chairperson will schedule, arrange, and conduct CSE meetings; communicate with parents, staff, and agencies regarding CSE meetings and recommendations.
- Prepares agendas, schedules meetings for K-12 CSE, and ensures mandated members are in attendance at each meeting and that the parent of each child to be discussed is invited to the meeting.
- The CSE chairperson will be responsible for developing IEPs and providing ongoing follow-up to ensure that all CSE recommendations are fully implemented.
- Provides follow-up and coordinates programs and services as a result of CSE meetings.
- Works cooperatively with parents, district staff, administration, and outside agencies.
- Works cooperatively with all building staff district-wide to implement services and CSE recommendations.
- Completes all records and reports and submits reports to Directors of Special Services and data inputters.
- Uses data to inform all practices.
- Provides support to special class programs, BOCES programs, and buildings as needed.
- Keeps well-informed of all NYS laws and regulations pertaining to special education services for school-age students in non-public schools and students in preschool.
- It is flexible and able to assist the Directors of Special Services in department duties and initiatives.
- The CSE Chairperson must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; the ability to interpret an extensive variety of data and deal with various abstract and concrete variables; the ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific fields; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community; The ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
Applicants must be New York State certified. All salary and fringe benefits will commensurate with the Agreement between the City School District and the Binghamton Teachers’ Association.
