Head Stores Clerk — (8 hours per day/260 days per year)

Salary: $40,969 per contract

In order to be considered for this opening, applicants must be:

    • Currently on the Civil Service eligible list for the title, or
    • Currently appointed to the title, or
    • Eligible to take the exam for the title when it becomes available

Requirements: Driver’s License History Report (DMV Abstract)

 

Distinguishing Features of the Class:  The employee in this class supervises a staff of subordinate clerical, motor vehicle operators, and other storehouse employees in the receipt, storage, and issuance of a wide variety of goods. It is responsible for the storehouse operations of a large centralized central receiving warehouse. Monitors adherence to purchasing practices, vendor performance, contract compliance, and quality assurance of products received; records purchases, issues, and consumption of parts, assuring that all products and supplies are properly received and distributed. Does related work as required. 

Typical Work Activities:

  • Thorough knowledge of the proper methods for maintaining a storeroom
  • Good knowledge of keeping accurate records/inventory of supplies and materials
  • Good knowledge of the purchasing and requisitioning procedures
  • Ability to keep accurate records, integrity, and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
  • Data entry for maintaining and tracking information related to the receipt, inventory, distribution, and billing of supplies and materials

Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of computer-based skills and data entry
  • Requires the ability to handle several tasks at one time accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to operate a forklift and a pallet jack
  • Ability to multitask

Job Description

This is routine work in preparing and serving food and in cleaning of kitchen equipment. The incumbent is expected to perform all duties needed in the support of a food service program. The work is performed under the immediate supervision of either the Cook Manager or form the Food Service Supervisor at the respective building. Does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities:

  • Serves food on a cafeteria line
  • Performs tasks to prepare food to be cooked
  • May operate some cooking machinery including mixers, stoves, and ovens under the direct supervision
  • Washes dishes and pots and other utensils either by hand or by machine
  • Sweeps, mops, and cleans all kitchen work areas and storage areas
  • May act as a cashier in the cafeteria
  • Cleans tables in the cafeteria
  • Collects and empties trash containers
  • Works on production line filling meal orders
  • Delivers trays, returns empty carts and trays to the kitchen
  • Assists in the preparation of salads and desserts

  • Working knowledge of the proper methods of serving food and of the care of tableware, glassware, silver, and kitchen appliances
  • Skill in performance of simple food preparation and cooking tasks
